Getting started
How do I sign in?
With your phone number. Twine texts you a code; type it in and you're in. There are no passwords. On a new phone, sign in with the same number and your groups come back.
How do I invite someone?
Tap the group name at the top, then Members & invite. Create an invite code and share it. Codes work for 7 days, and you can revoke one at any time under Manage codes.
How do I join a group?
Ask someone in the group for an invite code. In Twine, choose Join with a code, type the code and pick the name and colour the group will see.
Why can a group only have 8 people?
Twine is made for the people you share everyday life with: a partner, a household, a family, a trip. Keeping groups small keeps them calm and personal. If a group is full, the invite says so.
Using Twine
How do I turn a message into a todo or a date?
Long-press the message and choose todo or date. Twine suggests a title and a time from what was written. The new item stays tied to the message by a red thread, so you can always see where it was decided.
What is a private topic?
A topic only the people you add can see, such as planning a surprise. Other members of the group, including its owner, don't see it at all.
Does Twine work without a connection?
Yes. Twine keeps a copy of your groups on your phone. You can read, write messages, tick todos and add dates offline; changes are sent as soon as you're back online. A message that hasn't gone out yet says "Sending…".
I'm not getting notifications
Twine is quiet by default: you hear when someone @mentions you, assigns you a todo, or a reminder is due. To hear about every message in a topic, turn it on in Settings → Notifications.
If nothing arrives at all, check that notifications for Twine are allowed in your phone's settings, and that Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't on.
How do I change my name or colour?
Tap your avatar to open Settings, then Edit next to your name.
Can I use Twine in another language?
Twine follows your phone's language. To pick one yourself, go to Settings → Language. It is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Russian, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
Groups and your account
How do I leave a group?
Tap the group name, then Members & invite, then Leave at the bottom. If you own the group, first tap another member to make them the owner. If you're the only member, the group closes when you leave.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. Settings → Export my data saves everything you can see as a file.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. See Delete your account for what is deleted and what stays with your groups.
Who can see what I write?
Only the people in your group, and for a private topic only the people in that topic. We don't show ads or sell data. The privacy policy has the details.
